Update on Nicola
Dear friends,You will be pleased to know that the terrible diarrhea that raged for over a week is at last easing. Nicola has had two nights of reasonable sleep which she really enjoyed. She is now being fed through her veins (TPN I think its called) so she will at last be getting some nutrition. Investigations continued this week with regards the obstruction in the bowel. They had hoped they might be able to put in a stent but that now looks unlikely which is a bit of a disappointment to us. I think the plan for the oncology team now is to build Nicola up with TPN and then talk again with the surgeons to see if an operation might be possible, so it looks like she will be in hospital for some time yet.
Nicola's brother Simon flew in from Los Angeles this morning and it was great to see how pleased they were to see each other. At times like this it is hard to describe how important family, friends and church is. We are so aware of being part of a larger loving and enriching community and it is such a wonderful blessing to us. It reminds me of an old hymn that most of you would be far too young to remember... Blest be the tie that binds our hearts in Christian love, the fellowship of kindred minds is like to that above.
Thanks so much for your continued prayer and support.
Love,
Phil
