A message from Nicola
All is going well in the Garnham household at the moment.I have been feeling remarkably well and apart from being tired the side effects of the chemotherapy have been relatively minor irritations such as having a sore face and mouth.
Abigail has come home from uni for Christmas so it is lovely to have her back. Rebekah has just one week left of what has been a very tough term for her. Hannah has been busy doing her GCSE mocks and Sam has been busy being Sam.
Tomorrow (Monday) I have to go to Charing Cross Hospital for blood tests and to see the doctor then my next long dose of chemo starts on Wednesday and will run until Friday. However I will be able to come home on Wednesday evening with the portable pump.
Maybe I should expand a little on Philip's comment about me being inspired by Lamentations 3. The author is having a good wallow in all that has gone wrong for him and concludes (vs 18) by saying that 'My splendour is gone and all that I had hoped for from the Lord'. However his hope is renewed when he calls to mind God's compassion and faithfulness (vs 21-23). He then goes on to state that 'The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him' (vs 25).
I was struck by the distinction between hoping for things FROM the Lord and having hope IN the Lord. Maybe in the past I have been guilty of hoping for things from God, seeing him as the facilitator of my 'Christmas wish list' of future dreams and plans. My prayer is that I will learn to put my hope in him, whatever the future holds, and seek him for who he is rather than for what he will do for me.
Thank you for your prayers and concern for us all.
With love,
Nicki

Dear Garnhams,
With Sarah's help in finding my way around your blog we have been encouraged by your faith and understanding of how good our Lord is. I have just finished reading Hannah and Sams latest update and been able to share them with Sarah,
Robert and David. We very much look forward to seeing you all. Our love to all your family this christmas time. Chris.
