An Update from Nicola

Hurrah, I have now started on the chemotherapy. After a long week of hospital visits, yesterday (Thursday 30th) the next stage of the journey began. I was at Charing Cross all day, 9.30am - 6.30pm, but was then able to come home with a portable pump which will be disconnected tomorrow. I came home with a goody bag full of pills to counter any side effects and so far I am feeling fine.
From now on I will need to go once a week for the new drug, this will only take a couple of hours. Once a fortnight I will also be having the standard chemotherapy for advanced bowel cancer which means spending most of the day at the hospital and then runs at home for a further 48 hours. It all seems rather complicated and confusing at the moment but I am sure that we will soon get into a routine.

Proverbs 3:5-6 seems particularly appropriate at the moment when our own understanding is so inadequate:
'Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.'

With much love
Nicki
