Nicola's News
Hi Friends,We have had a really lovely week in Paignton on holiday. The weather was great and we made good use of the National Trust membership that the children gave us for our wedding anniversary by visiting several NT properties in Devon. My mother tried to fatten me up by giving me clotted cream at every opportunity. By the end of the week I was able to walk up the 120 steps from the beach to their house with only one stop on the way.
I go for another CT scan this week then next Thursday (13th Sept) I'm going to see the oncologist to discuss what they are going to do next. Please pray that good decisions will be made about the most suitable chemotherapy etc.
Also please could you pray for Hannah who starts her new school on Wednesday this week. She is going to go to the 6th form at the Ursuline High School in Wimbledon to do A levels in French, psychology, history and RE. Please pray that she settles in quickly and soon makes some new friends.
Rebekah is still having a really good time at Chikankata, is learning lots and seeing all sorts of things that she wouldn't see in the UK. She will probably be coming home soon.
Abigail has a few more weeks at home before going back to uni and is busy having driving lessons at the moment.
Sam seems to have grown several inches over the summer and is looking forward to starting his first job, a paper round, next week.
Thank you again for all your prayers, I'm sure that I would not have recovered from surgery as well as I have had it not been for the encouragement I got from knowing that so many people have been praying for me. God had been teaching us many things, not least that when we put our trust in him he doesn't let us down, he is still there even when things get rough.
These words, written by David when he was going through a bad time, rang a bell with me:
O lord, don't hold back your tender mercies from me!
My only hope is in your love and faithfulness.
Otherwise I perish, for problems far too big for me to solve are piled higher than my head.
Psalm 40:11-12 (The Living Bible)
We are continuing to put our hope in God's love and faithfulness.
Many blessings,
Nicola
